Meet The Owners
Harold and Rustina (Rusty) Hansen are the third family to own this home since it was built by the Steele family in 1871. Oak Ridge Farm has hosted many weddings and events over the years; hayrides, bonfires, and BBQ’s, graduation celebrations, and birthdays to name a few. The beautiful landscaped grounds and antiquity of this old Southern, Federal style, home adds to the atmosphere of the occasion.
Harold and Rusty traveled all over the Western Hemisphere while Harold worked for IBM before settling in Mooresville, NC, in 1982. They appreciated meeting new people wherever they journeyed to and so it was natural for them to want to extend that same hospitality they had experienced to others traveling to the Piedmont. The Hansen's have been sharing their home as a Bed & Breakfast for over 25 years. They have enjoyed meeting many wonderful people from around the world.
Harold has worked as a manager of strategic planning, business process improvement, and business continuity for several large corporations. He takes pleasure in horticulture and has personally designed and planted the landscaping at Oak Ridge Farm. Harold enjoys teaching adult bible classes. Rusty has been an educator for many years and stays involved with students through tutoring and as an educational therapist.
The Hansens are grateful to God for their four grown children and seven grandchildren; as well as the privilege to live in such a beautiful location.
Meet the Event Coordinator
Christina Lee is one of Harold and Rusty's four children lovingly named the "pot stirrer" of the family because of her energy and creativity. Growing up at Oak Ridge Farm Christina has had the privilege to be a foundational part of the Bed and Breakfast and has inherited the Hansen's natural desire to extend old fashion southern hospitality to guests. During college, Christina began to pursue her passion for event planning and has never looked back. With over five years of event planning experience, she brings style, enthusiasm, and personality to each event held at the historic Bed and Breakfast.
In 2007, Christina was married to the man of her dreams on the lawn of Oak Ridge Farm. Her Garden Style wedding was one of the first events to display the true romance, personalization and natural beauty the property has to offer. Her professional and personal experiences have given her a true passion to use her expertise and talents to help others envision, plan, and enjoy their events. Anyone who works with Christina will immediately feel the extra effort she puts into building trusting relationships with vendors and clients.
Christina is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and currently lives in uptown Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband Graeme and dog Emma. She loves playing golf, practicing yoga and snowboarding but gets most excited about hosting a themed brunch!
